Steve Gordon is Looking for
TWO AWAI Copywriters!
“We are growing and are building a team of 5 to 10 writers this year, with an immediate need for 2 writers. What I love about working with AWAI-trained writers is that they get up to speed fast, write clearly, and can deliver even complex copywriting projects.”
– Steve Gordon, Founder of The Million Dollar Author Agency
Steve Gordon, founder of The Million Dollar Author Agency, will be one of 20 marketers and publishers participating in live Q&A Roundtables during AWAI’s virtual FastTrack to Copywriting Clients, November 7- 9. He’s hired AWAI-trained writers before and he reached out to us looking for two more AWAI copywriters to join his team this year.
This is a great opportunity for B2B writers and ghostwriters.
Steve explains more about the opportunity below!
About the Agency
The Million Dollar Author exists to be a hero to the experts who started a small firm and now find themselves trapped on the revenue-rollercoaster … whipsawed between “more work than they can handle” and “nothing in the pipeline.” Our focus is to create for that professional a simple to operate, world-class, business development system that brings in great clients every month.
Typical Copy Projects
We create short, lead-generating books for experts who want to author a book, but don’t want to write it themselves. We focus on B2B professional-service businesses that are selling to entrepreneurial-sized companies (still owned/managed by the entrepreneur; not large corporations).
A typical book project is 15,000 to 20,000 words--100 to 150 pages published. We have a persuasive structure we used that roughly follows the P.A.S. format.
The Project Process
- I develop the book concept and detailed outline with the client using a tool we created called The Book Organizer. (This process is recorded on Zoom and provided to you.)
- Over four 2-hour video calls I interview the client through every chapter of the book to extract the content. (This process is recorded on Zoom and provided to you.)
- Our current writers turn around a first draft in roughly two-three weeks. We’re looking for you to be able to do the same.
- The client will review the first draft and provide feedback. There are inevitably some changes to make.
- You will implement the changes and deliver a second draft (usually within 2-3 days after receiving the feedback).
- Once we have an approved draft (typically after the second draft), the manuscript is edited and packaged for publication.
You are not required to attend the content extraction calls.
The Style of Writing
The books we create are designed to transform the thinking of a prospect so that the prospect takes a desired action--usually to schedule a call with the client/author. These books are part informational and part long sales letter.
We prefer short paragraphs. We love short sentences. Our target reading level is the 10th-grade reader. We’re writing to a business owner (most of the time) … the writing needs to be conceptually sophisticated while using simple, easy to understand, language.
We want to include stories (especially stories from the author describing the success of his/her clients).
The books usually break down into 8 to 10 chapters, plus an introduction, conclusion, and call-to-action. Each chapter is generally 1500-2000 words.
Who We Are Looking to Hire
We are growing and are building a team of 5 to 10 writers this year, with an immediate need for 2 writers. We work with writers and editors on a freelance/project basis.
We’re looking for writers who can grow into and, by the end of the year, take on the book strategy work--working with clients directly to develop the book concept, detailed outline, and extract the content from the client.
